[klipper] user predefined clips

Sun Jun 07, 2009 11:09 am
proposal to extent clipper with functionality of pasting predefined items.
i don't invented wheel: Clippings.
hierarchical organization is imho important. dedicated keyboard shortcut needed to
display menu with accelerators, or incrementally narrowed flat list (mouse useless), or dialog for choosing category and then selecting/searching items.
maybe ability to assign character(s) to items - for quick access? (another multikey shortcut?)
maybe plugins to access bookmarks, contacts, playlists, databases, search engines, paths, file content?
maybe history of pasted items?
maybe integrate clipper with krunner?

I'll approve this, but please tell us whether the Paste plasmoid fits your needs.

i omit testing it before. may be useful if one don't have to many items, but imo better will be, that when user click item, then it's content is immediately pasted at cursor position, plasmoid closes, and previous clipboard content is restored.

Under Windows I used the freeware clcl, where the predefinde clips were called "Templates". They were in a 'template>' menu at the end of the clip list. Can be easily selected by the mouse, very handy for project numbers or other cryptic stuff.

I would be very happy to have the same functionality in klipper!

Thanks,

Chris
