Compiz has the option to put things inside their desktop cube effect. KDE doesn't. We already have something that would work quite well inside a cube, though: a globe. Marble allows for a variety of different globes to be created. So it would be great if users were allowed to set it so when using a transparent cube one of those globes could be placed inside of it. Alternatively, it could be set so an inverted version of the globe surrounds the cube (called a skybox), so it looks like both you and the cube are inside a translucent globe looking out.
I understand this may not be possible with the current marble implementation, but I think an opengl implementation is planned that may make this easier.
