Klipper currently allows only 1 clipboard. I think it is a good idea to have configurable amount of them. Only one is default of course. So ctrl+c works as normal.
Then if i have say 9 additional clipboards I can use ctrl + num1-9 (or other shortcuts) to copy into additional clipboards. Alt + num1-9 to past from them and Meta + num1-9 to show their history.
Do not try this at home, part 1. Second most favorite command after KDE upgrade: # chmod -x /usr/bin/kactivitymanagerd

What about item numbering, you like to copy something and you press a combo + number and, when you paste you press the combo + number and you get what you copied

hey this is interesting, i have thinking something similar,
Klipper is nice, but mauybe we can do something like add slots in the classic ctr-c (or ctr-ins) without klipper like : ctr-c = normal copy to clipboard ctr-c a = also copy to slot a ctr-v = paste clipboard ctr-v a = paste slot a etc. it would be transparent for users, but it be there for those who need more clipboards slots.
