For now (KDE4.2.4) Kopete plugin for previewing images allow only to disableenable scaling. But if there are several large pictures - for example screnshots - then none of this option is comfortable in the long conservation.
Idea is to add option "Show full image on click" (left click is more preferable). Then when image is clicked it become fully displayed in the chat window. Next click - and it become scaled again. That allow user avoid switching to external application like gwenview to take a look on picture while discussing it.
