The idea is to have the ability with the "copy to" and "move to" contextual menu to select Places (i mean dolphin/File Dialog bookmark-like feature) to copy to or to move to.
The browsing from root or from the root is less natural. Maybe be able to browse from the Places to their sub-folders would be useful too. Even better would be the ability to select external hard disks. By the way, thanks to dolphin's developers.

To be honest, I don't see the point in this functionality: all I have to do right now is click-and-drag to one of the places in the side bar.

But when the sidebar is closed it would be usefull.

Useful if you want to copy/move to Place/some_folder. Draging to sidebar could move to main folder only.

I use this functionality mainly from the folder view plasma widget, when sorting files and i found too disturbing the big browse tree.
