KMail's message-view pane allows more than one line of information.

Suggestion: a three-pane view may allow better usage of screen real-estate, with folders on the left, messages in the middle, and quick-view on the right (as opposed to the current quick-view below the messages).

this is already possible with kmail. unless i misunderstood you :-S
