[Amarok] script hierarchy

Thu Jun 18, 2009 5:11 pm
In Amarok, for some types of scripts you are only allowed to have on of that script running at a time. An example is lyrics scripts. Scripts often have a trade-off between effectiveness (such as finding lyrics) and reliability (getting the correct lyrics). It would be nice if Amarok allowed us to set however many of these sorts of scripts we want, but be able to set the priority for each one (for instance by moving them up and down in a list, with higher items in the list having a higher priority). Amarok would consult the highest-priority script first. If that scripts works, fine, if not Amarok consults the next script. It would move on down the line until one of the scripts returns a positive result or it runs out of scripts. Users would probably also have the option to dismiss the results from one script and check what the next script has, as well as start over the sequence if they make a mistake or don't end up finding anything better in later scripts.
