For the last few years, KMail has evolved to become one (or THE) greatest mail client ever...
And as an Akregator user, I'm kinda sad to see KMail get improved and Akregator just stay as he allways have been. I believe most of the progress done with KMail can also be done in Akregator... Akregator could for example use the same header styles that KMail. And it could also use the same list system as KMail (with the "Yesterday", "Monday", "Sunday", "One week ago")... Let's give him some fresh air ! |

Well I'm a kmail fan but I'm also a netbook user. In my rather cramped world the new message list of kmail is a little too vertical-space-greedy. So I'm not so much a fan of the new list system.

In deed Akregator could be replaced with with simple script, that forwards rss entries as mails to virtual mail account.
In order not to get overloaded by outdated news, a simple filter can be set to remove older or keep no more than X entries per source. Also since all email filters can be applied, users not only could use all email management features, like kmail has, but also merge some feeds into one (like same_site.com/kde and same_site.com/qt) |

While I don't use Kmail, I agree that Akregator could use some UI work, and really should look like the other PIM apps in KDE.
Proudly dual-booting openSUSE 11.1 with KDE 4.3 and Windows Vista on a Toshiba A205-S4577 since July 2007.
