Hi !
So, yesterday I had to send a mail on the morning, and as it was kinda annoying, I decided to do it "later". Then, hours after hours, I forgot to write it. And, as allways, it's EVERY TIME at the EXACT moment I click on "shut down" that I remember : "Oh ****, the mail !". And then I have to wait the computer to shut down, and to power up again after... So I was thinking, while the session is closing, wouldn't it be cool to have a sort of "panic cancel" button to stop the shutdown process, or to put it in pause ? It could be integrated just like this : (http://imagebin.ca/view/p7UyGCjg.html) Would it be possible ? |

The problem with this is that at least when I am shutting down the first thing to go is plasma, which means this message will disappear.

And what's about a window which is there till X is stopped?

Well in my case KDE apps goes first, then Plasma, then others apps o_O ! So I have pretty much time to realise I forgot something and clic on something like that.
Anyway, I suppose it would just require to write another shutdown script ? Which would try to kill every windowed application before it kills Plasma. And if it's not possible, the window idea can replace it easly I think. |

I thought of a second method:
There could be something like a splash screen as logout screen. And on that logout screen there could be a button "Stop Logout". If you click on it the logout progress will be stopped and applications like Plasma and KWin would be restarted if they're already killed. |

Please, no timers or questions to shutdown. The shutdown needs to be done fast when user wants.
The "problem" might be on the Linux OS and INIT (or somekind clone of it) how they work. It is easier to place KDE a panic button to not shutdown itself and send INIT command to shutdown whole system. |
