In the first place I'm taking about Files tab in Amarok. Basically it does the same job as dolphin, so why it cant inherit best parts of it? Like Places sidebar or equivalent, size scrollbar, customizable toolbar etc.
Manually going to download or /media folders isn't very pleasant; Also in dolphin i have 48*48 icons, when in Amarok I get only 16*16?

Second point is main collection browsing layout. By default there are Applets and playlist.
Despite how great the are, I would still prefer to get an Icon view (for albums) and list mode with sorting by size, bitrate etc.

This could be don the same way as it is in Konqueror: splitting display vertically or horizontally.

If User could split in even 8 frames and embed any content type: applet, playlist in Amarok2 style, playlist in list style, files browser, web browser, rss reader, etc it would turn Amarok into extremely powerful collection manager and finally beat MediaMoneky :D

As we can save playlist layout, we could save whole layout too :)

Got the point? ;)

You can already get dolphin places by clicking the icon at the far left of the breadcrumb bar. If you click the "home" button, this icon is your home folder on the far left.

The layout will be customizable for 4.2. You will be able to drag and drop elements into whatever layout you want, turn them on or off, etc. The context view is not going to be split up this way, since it uses plasma. But you will be able to move the context view around as a single object.

So,as best as I can tell, that leaves icon sizes and customizable files toolbar. It would be helpful if you pared down this idea to just those.
