variable icon sizes in panel

Similar to desktop icons, we should be able to resize icons on the panel. It might look really nice when large icons spills over from panel...

I think this defeats the purpose of the panel, although a new type of panel-like containment could support this.

Maybe in a more dock-like containment (containment = contains widgets). And it shouldn't only apply to icons but to any kind of widget.

Would it be adequate just to draw the containment differently? So that the icons looked like they hung over the edge? Or is this specifically a request that would allow you to, for example, have all different sized icons in a panel?

I'm going to rather stay neutral in this case. I'm not sure if it would be practical coding-wise - or as TheBlackCat said, it seems better to think of a new type of panel, like a dock.
