[dolphin] full row select option

Wed Jul 08, 2009 11:45 pm
got addicted to being able to click on any spot in the row to select the item when using thunar. it would be awesome if dolphin had an option to work this way.

example:
switch folder view mode to details so that they are listed out vertically
now, to select an item you have to click on the icon, or the name.
it would be nice to be able to select the item based on the row that it is in, not just the icon or the name.

i'm not sure if people are annoyed by not being able to right click empty white space when this is active, it used to bug me. anyway, maybe make it so that regular selections work on the row, but right clicks work on the icon or name only.

Would be good, BUT when selecting many files, if I start drawing select rectangular in empty space vertically for whole height and only when extend it to left to select files, I get much better performance. I guess it is, because dolphin don have to re-check for files selected :)

So better variant could be make all text (name, size, date...) make selectabe excluding white space. Also because white space is used to deselect items :)

yeah good point! i guess if the details columns could be selectable for the item, that would give me the functionality i would want. good to know about that dragging tip, i'll totally use that!
