instead use a live preview - like HTML page sample with the styles displayed on it

clicking or hovering on a style opens a menu (like the shapes catalog in karbon) with more precise variations of the same style. using a variation for a style sets it as the default for this style. right click or cashew inside the menu allows customizing the styles
