Hi,
this one is mostly for german users, who want to attract more people to KDE software, but it may also work everywhere else. http://heise.de is one of the most important and read IT online magazines in Germany, even with a good focus on open source software. It also hosts a software directory (http://www.heise.de/software), nicely ordered by OS, category and so on, which I often look through to find apps for certain purposes. There are also some KDE apps, but often with far outdated (and ugly) screenshoots from KDE3.x times. Thought: aren't we all more attracted by programs that are also visually appealing, and doesn't KDE 4.x offer this beauty with Oxygen? So wouldn't it be nice and couldn't it produce more interest in KDE and its apps, when there where some new, shiny screenshots of every of our apps in Oxygen look? Solution: fortunately 'heise online' offers a posibility to upload current/better screenshots below/besides the app description. So e.g. at http://www.heise.de/software/download/akregator/60428 look for a link "Weitere/bessere Screenshots hochladen". If we all would go through the directory and upload updated screenshots for every KDE app we find there, we could massively improve the visible presentation of KDE there ... and by using KSnapshot, it is really easy to make a nice snapshot . |
