The KDE Games module has a lot of games..except two; Chess and Checkers.
Why is such a classic game not in the system? Silly not to do so, really!

Absolutly, I've also been wondering why !
We already have many IAs, we just miss a KDE interface. But well... writing an easier IA for beginners would be nice also. Actually I can't really beat any of the free IA except the ones from Brutal Chess ! And this is quite unpleasent ! I don't know Checkers but well... why not ! KDE has a lot of original games, but the classical ones would be very welcome also. |

Lol, not very popular reversi and yathzee are present and worldwidely known and popular chess and checkers are not. What a surprising invertion!

I do miss a good game of chess... and I\'m a gentoo user, and for some reason BrutalChess fails to compile. Darn...

I\'d love it.
With multiple AIs and variants. @SkyBon Reversi and Yatzee are very popular. (well, less popular than chess) |

Link fixed. It does look like a good app.

I don\'t know if there is anything original to be done here. But, yes, we should have a chess/checkers client for KDE. At the minimum would be an XBoard port that could also do checkers. IIRC, there was an XBoard port called Knights, but it is now an orphan.
I suppose that an OpenGL perspective rendering of a board and pieces would be interesting, but would it be useful for serious play? |
