In Amarok 2.1 there is a new system that allows you to customize the layout of your playlist by dragging and dropping various playlist elements like the song title, album name, artist, etc. However, due to the size of the playlist only a limited number of items can fit without making the playlist huge, and long items often get shortened. I think that this same system can be used to create a thumbnail system with similar flexibility but without the same limitations.

The thumbnail would appear when you hover over a song in the playlist for a certain amount of time. However, unlike playlist items it would have the correct size to fit everything without cutting off long text. It would also be the same for all songs, unlike the default playlist layout which uses headers for albums (which saves spaces, but means you have to look in two different places to get all the information). It could be customized in a tab in the playlist layout editor, allowing you to include whatever information you want.
