I wish that the Activity Bar widget could be configured to stack vertically rather than just horizontally. When docked in the panel it should display the current activity name and cascade perpendicular to the panel when clicked, only then showing all the available activities.

That could be a nice option.

On a slightly unrelated note, I just added an auto-hiding panel with an activity bar widget on it - it's now on every desktop activity automatically and stays out of my way.

Having a panel used exclusively for the activity bar could be handy for some users. But, I already have two panels on my desktop, one on the top and another in the bottom. Adding a third one is too much, for me.
