Quassel Features

Fri Jul 31, 2009 12:51 pm
I'm a new user of Quassel, and I think it's a real nice software, but just yesterday I was looking for a function that I think would be very nice to have on it, but I didn't find it, so I'll try to explain what I mean....

Sometime, some channel is really quite even if some people is connected, and happen for example that I write a message and while I'm waiting for some answer, I keep going with some other stuff, and if someone answer me without use my name on the message, I didn't get notification...

So I think would be nice to have a function which can be activate/deactivate (just for a single channel) by using right click on the channel (in the channel list), just a new row on the pop-up which already exists, to have a notification for any new message on that channel, so even if I'm doing something else , I don't have to worry about the chat, if someone is answering or not, because right now, when it happen, I always have to bring forward Quassel to check it, and pull back if nobody has answered yet...

I think this simple features will improve a lot a piece of software which is already great, and I guess isn't so difficult to implement it ....

What do you think about it ?

In anycase, thanks a lot for your great job guys....

I think this is a good idea, as a Quassel user...

But Quassel isn't maintained by the KDE developers, it's just a 3rd party application with KDE integration, so you'd need to suggest this to the Quassel developers.

I think they hang out on #quassel on FreeNode.

Thanks HappySmileMan...

I thought Quassel was a part of KDE, so I spoke with some developer on their IRC channel, and it seems they like the idea, so I post it on their development website...., hopefully they will implement it...

Thanks again...

It could also be useful to hide such channels until there's a new message. So you can focus on other channels.

I really love the notification on channel activity in X-Chat and how easy it is to configure it (like you described it, guess you like it as well).

+1
