my proposal is setup option to showing auto-hidden panel only with mouse wheel (scroll down?) instead of automatic.
may be useful especially if panel is wide, because frequent closing of accidentally opened big panel may cause frustration... or if panels share screen edge ... maybe also panels switching with wheel? (probably without respect of showing method, and with disabled animation) hiding with wheel (scroll up?) can also be good idea (probably in addition to leaving event). option to disable show/hide animation for given panel also can be sometimes useful. |

What if you need the wheel in an application?

i thought about opening panels by wheel when pointer touches screen edge... maybe simple gesture up-down/left-right, or even simple slide, or entering screen edge twice, will be more intuitive, but using wheel is imho simpler, harder to occur by accident, and offers bonus - possible use to easy switching between panels sharing screen edge. |
