KDE 4.x don't have any IDE for WebDevelopment. Quanta 4 is far from finishing, there are no developers. And i am afraid about project future...
Konqueror is so many thigs, but i think that should be also a Development tool. I still use Firefox because of Firebug, and some other Add-ons. Konqueror + KATE(code highlighting, indention) + codecompletion plugin and it's good to go. Sorry for bad spelling. Pozdrav. |

KDevelop has a great PHP-Plugin. It's a bit slow, but it provides full code-analysis. I like it.
With some extra-plugins (for example uploading, open in Konqueror and a more reliable parser (when there's one line wrong, the rest of the code is often ignored)) it would be great. Just FireBug is missing, especially FirePHP. There's already an idea to port FireBug, but it was moved to "Submitted", grrr. There are already DOM-inspection and validators. We should make Konqueror-pluguins more popular: -Support for KNewStuff (also for compiling addons) -Support for JavaScript -Templates for Addons (in Ruby, Python and C++) |

I didn't try Kdevelop, i will give it a try.
But i think that there is great potential in this, you already have ability to split Konqueror windows in two parts, one part you can use to write code and second for preview. That is a great feature for one Web Design, especially for CSS. Kdevelop is great tool, from what i see form user feedback. But some people don't need all that. I wish that there is tool for Web development like Quanta(HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP). Simple and easy. And why shouldn't Konqueror be that tool. I think that this feature is more important of File manager... Especially when there is no tool for web development for KDE 4. |
