System Settings Dialog Tweaking

Thu Aug 20, 2009 2:47 am
Currently, the Notification applet is used to change KDE's sound scheme, and many other attributes about notifications.

The problem is that user is most likely to want to change the sound scheme, more than any other attribute for notifications, and won't know that to configure the sound scheme they have to go to "notifications"

I think that "Notifications" should be renamed to "Notifications and System Sounds", and the icon for it should have a speaker icon (like the one used in the "Multimedia" applet) added over the current one in one of its corners, and it should take up at least 1/4 of the current icon.

Also I think the "Multimedia" applet icon should have a gear icon added in, (The gear icon should be in back of the current speaker icon) to indicate that its more of a system configuration, then the notifiactions one is. Even though "Multimedia" is under the "Computer Administration" group, fast eyes might see the speaker icon first.

What do you think?
