The plasma task manager currently supports thumbnails of grouped programs. However, it uses its own implementation of the thumbnails. I think a better solution might be to use the kwin window switchers to handle the thumbnails. These would not be the full-sized switchers like you get with a keyboard combination (alt+tab by default), they would be small and right above the task manager, similar to the existing ones. This has several advantages. First, it will hopefully reduce duplicated work, since plasma would not need to implement its own switchers. Second, the kwin switchers, even the basic box switcher, have neat effects the plasma thumbnails do not. Third, it would allow for a wider variety of window switchers with more customization. Users could use the cover switcher instead of the current plasma one (which is analogous to the box switcher), or even the present windows switchers (although these thumbnails would be pretty small).
Man is the lowest-cost, 150-pound, nonlinear, all-purpose computer system which can be mass-produced by unskilled labor.
