Could an option be added to overlap the application buttons in the task bar, instead of grouping them.
How I imagine it would work is... As more and more application windows are added to the Task Bar / Task Manager, the buttons get smaller. When the buttons get to their minimum size they start to overlap (instead of grouping) as the tip of the cursor hovers over the exposed edge of the button, it comes to the front/top. I suppose this is a bit like a mini cover flow. A mock-up for KHTML browsers (should work in most) here http://purple-bobby.co.uk/KDE/OverlapButtons.html Imagine the task bar contains 9 buttons which are too big to fit, "App 3" has focus. Run your cursor over the buttons.

Could you post a mock-up please, I'm having trouble understanding the idea.
Proudly dual-booting openSUSE 11.1 with KDE 4.3 and Windows Vista on a Toshiba A205-S4577 since July 2007.
