DrKonqi is a great tool to report bugs, it is much easier to use than the web-frontend. But it is only invoked when an application crashes. There should be an option to start it as a stand-alone-application to report bugs or wishes.

yeah, good idea!
I think the kmess system is a very good way to implement this idea! Just look at this idea: brainstorm.php#idea61796 what about that way of implementing? (bad bad english, sorry) |

That is a great idea!
There are different possible solutions: -KWin: Pro: independent from compiling the applications, Con: Does not have all the possibilities in the apps and information about the apps -Implementation in KMainWindow: Pro: Has proper possibilities to add the buttons somewhere and can access application-information Con: It does not know anything about different KParts -Implementation in KParts: I think it is possible to tell the bug-tracking system something about the affected KPart, but I do not know how It should be a combination: The KMainWindow should create the buttons, provide a screenshot-function and invoke the dialog, when there are KParts, the user should be able to choose the component. But first of all a KMainWindow-solution would be good. KPart-selection and screenshots would be nice extras. But also with this integration a stand-alone-application would sometimes be useful. |

Well, there is also KBugBuster. But DrKonqi's interface is much easier to use. Maybe a combination would be possible.

Sorry, but the web-interface is somehow ugly.

The idea of integrating the KMess system is detailed here (too): brainstorm.php?mode=idea&i=61796#anchormain
Some general thoughts: Bugzilla wizard is going to be revamped/updated with the bugzilla system upgrade to the latest version. Right now, DrKonqi is too much backtrace-centric; rework it to get a bug/wish reporting tool would be a lot of work I think. It could be done if I get some help about designing it; however I don't have too much time for it right now, Improving the current crash handler is my priority. Regards |
