I just feel this a very important usability issue. It just doesn't feel right when KDE is known to give us more control over our desktop than any other DE and yet it doesn't allow us to freely configure one of its very crucial apps-- the Dolphin. As Stephan Sokolow at bugs.kde.org states...

The places sidebar in the KDE 4 Open/Save dialog doesn't allow the user to
specify a fixed icon size, instead dynamically sizing icons to fill the sidebar
horizontally. (Which also happens to displease people with a lot of stored
places who want to minimize the chances of vertical scrollbar use, like me)

Unfortunately, with application-specific bookmarks and Solid-provided devices
in the sidebar, there's no one size a user can adjust the sidebar to in order
to get their desired icon size.

At least users like me who want 16x16 icons can settle for either "just right"
or "too narrow" in order to lock the icons at 16x16, but that's a very poor
choice to have to make.

I'd like to have this option implemented in Dolphin. Since version 4.0 I've been waiting for this feature... So please, to those who wants this feature please head over to the bug and vote... Here's the link for the wishlist: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=182089

Thank you!
