The Day View and other calendar views in Kontact only show events relative to the time zone the computer is currently in. Add the ability to view the events relative to the time zone of the event itself, or other time zones if needed.
Example: I live in US Eastern Time, in Indiana; but I work in Chicago, which is in US Central Time - 1 hour behind Eastern Time. I use my computer at home, in Eastern Time, to put together my schedule of meetings, which are all in Central time. Currently, Kontact has the option to choose the time zone that you want to use, and the time zone that you want for a given event. I set both to Central Time. However, the Day Calendar View displays my events relative to Eastern Time. Feedback in the KDE forums suggests that this is because Kontact assumes I want to teleconference, so it's showing me the events relative to my current, physical time zone. But that's wrong - I don't teleconference, these are physical meetings, and I'm going to be in Central time when I go to them. Therefore, I need to be able to view my upcoming schedule relative to Central time, even when I'm physically in Eastern time. I hope that makes sense... I can explain more if it's confusing, but suffice to say that while I love Kontact in almost all other ways I've had to abandon it and resort to a paper planner book for my scheduling needs because of this odd behavior. Here's my thread with pictures illustrating what the issue is: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=77107 thanks! |

I've commented on your post in the forum.
There is an open bug that is related. http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=170380 It would be helpful if those voting for this, here, were to create examples of how the problem affects them, as it would enable those better qualified than e.g., me, to better understand where the problem might lie. |
