On every software (wicd, knetworkmanager, ..) to connect to the Internet there are profiles which includes IP address, DNS, search domain, .... But you can't put your proxy inside the profile.
I often move my computer from a place to another and each time I have to change manually the proxy. I think that a software which could inform KDE that the proxy configuration has change too would be a good idea |

In past I had already proposed to strengthen and UNIFY the kde network configuration section.
I think it's one of the most important part "behind" of kde services and I think that in many ways is no good. As already said there would need to improve the proxy configuration settings. I think there should be a single configuration tool for network settings. In kubuntu there is a section for "Network Manager" tool and another one for the proxy settings. Why? I think that a good idea might be to have available the same settings when you start the operating system in non-graphical mode, but perhaps this is another idea. |
