I have my wallpaper set to be a slideshow. If I want to quickly show someone what my wallpaper currently is, without it being obscured by anything, I can't. The widgets are in the way. Why not add a feature that allows people to show/hide widgets, either individually or overall? Something that comes to mind is the dashboard on Mac OS X, that can be easily hidden or shown at any time. Perhaps there could be an optional button on the panel to show/hide all widgets, and a button on each widget's sliding bar (the one that pops in and out on hover you use to move 'em around) to show/hide them individually? At which point you could show them again by accessing some sort of "hidden widgets menu".

I agree that some of us don't need widgets to be visible all the time, so it could be useful to have a "switch" to make them appear o disappear.
Maybe add this as an option in the cashew menu?

"Perhaps there could be an optional button on the panel to show/hide all widgets"
This could be a plasmoid. A universal button on all individual plasmoids would be nice, but I would be satisfied with a single "show/hide everything" plasmoid. I just have no idea how to make one. I've never designed any sort of widget before, and all I know right now is Java... oh, and Draconiak, the image files are not in a location that is quickly accessed: /media/fantomext/myname/Desktop/Pictures/Wallpapers/ Also, starting up Dolphin takes way too long. |

since 4.3, plasma supports a separate dashboard so you can put your widgets there and not on the desktop. close enough?
