What do you think? So instead of having to pan back, choose a desktop, pan back in, and then move your windows (for the cube) or interact with them, you could do it WHILE panned back!

For example, you reveal the desktop wall/expo/cube, then use the right mouse button to move or select windows and interact with them (such as filling in text boxes, chatting with friends, putting in websites, playing/pausing videos or music etc etc) without having to pan back in at all!

The only problem I can see is the visual effect as they wrap around the corners of the cube in real time, sorry to present that as a problem lol :)

But what do you think? I think it would be so speedy and almost take virtual/3D desktop interaction to a new level!

Let me know your opinions!

Hoppi :)

EDIT -- Who knows maybe you could even use it to interact with the K Menu and stuff! But maybe that's getting a bit too advanced! :)

You can already move wndows in desktop grid mode. But you can't interact with them.
You could rework your idea so it only refers to cube, where this isn't already implemented.
Idea as it is now is at least partially duplicate of my idea: 39226
So rewrite your idea in such way it only proposes this solution for desktop cube and i'll be happy to aprove it.

Oh ok thank you :)

Yeah I'll reword it a bit, but you know I never even noticed there is no desktop wall in Kwin! Has someone suggested that because it's quite important...

But yes I'll change it soon to relate just to the cube, and yours can cover the grid! :)

I hope these ideas become reality ^_^

What do you mean there's no desktop wall in Kwin? Desktop grid can be made into a "desktop wall". If desktop wall is what I think it is.

oh can it? cool :)

I meant like the grid but along a flat plane with the desktops on one level, like Compiz does :)

That's cool if Kwin can do it too!

Kwin can do this! Just go to system settings and set desktop grid to look like your pager, provided your pager is all desktops in one row. If not just set it to custom and set it to one row. That should do the trick.

Ah awesome thank you :)

Oh btw, I do really want to edit this idea and make it work well with yours, but I feel a bit like maybe yours could be a little reworded too? As I don't think it's completely clear that you mean full interaction with windows from virtual desktop view. This is just such a cool potential feature and it would be great if we could get the suggestions fully out there! I hope it gets considered! :)
