Coolris is a firefox-plugin.
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/5579 Its a very cool way to surf on some websites, but the most interesting thing is the view of local files. I think it is much more comfortable to view your photo album in this way. For normal files it is useless, but it is great for pictures. Sadly, it needs the adobe Flash player. Because of that, it could lag on some linux pcs. That's my idea: A new function "3d wall" in dolphin (button near the preview-button). This function should use opengl, only activated when direct rendering works It is much eyecandy and seems maybe useless, at the first moment. But when you try it a longer time it is just great

OpenGL inside applications doesn't depend on compositing.

It should be done for Konqueror:
1. KIO-Slaves for Google-Images, Youtube and things like that 2. A 3D-View KPart It would be even cool as a cover-flow-alternative. Do you have OpenGL-experience? |

Yes, and it would be much more useful, AND more beautiful. cover-flow is very limited, but that would look absolutely stunning. I'd go KDE only for this. |

My thoughts exactly - a KPart for Konqueror would be a good start.

Do you think it should use OpenGL-low-level features or Qt's transformations with optional OpenGL-acceleration (should be a bit slower on systems with a good GPU but harder to code and maybe unusable on systems with a good GPU)
