Hi!
It would be really nice to have a generalized chess-program in KDE (fairy-chess). Nice features would be: -Arbitrary board-size -Arbitrary figures: -Possible solution 1: Write them as combinations of existing figures with some variables (for example a (3,1)-horse) etc. -Possible solution 2: Small scripts returning a list of possible movements for a given constellation (or maybe with other parameters) -Play it against humans (maybe in network-mode, AI would be unimportant, of course there could be a very simple AI using a rating-function manually written for each variant) -KHotNewStuff with an uploading-feature for your best chess-variants -Save your party -Support for images for different figures -Modified win/lose/remis-constellations -Do something special with removed figures (for example change the team) -Chess for more than two players -Chess with more than two dimensions -Chess with non-quadratic cells -Torus-Chess -Random start-constellations -...your idea These are only examples for things that could be possible. Of course I know that we should first focus on a few most-important features and then add those extra-features we want to have. How would you think about such a game? The User |

Another feature came to my mind: In KDE's cardgames you can select a deck-style. There could be such styles for chess-figures, too. (maybe something like this should be integrated into libkdegames)
