Kontact

The option to 'Keep replies in this folder' on the General tab, accessed by right clicking, of each mail folder is one of my favourite parts of Kmail. When I receive mail it either goes automatically into a specific folder (I have many rules) or I move it into a folder. I then reply from that folder and my filing is considerably improved as a result.

However, I have many folders and subfolders and having to set each individually is incredibly tiresome. I can set them by editing ~/.kde/share/config/kmailrc (or ~/.kde4/share/config/kmailrc) and changing all occurrences of PutRepliesInSameFolder=false to PutRepliesInSameFolder=true but this is not intuitive for the general user.

I recommend that a general configuration be added, perhaps to the Misc settings section of the Kontact configuration, that allows the user to set/unset this option for all folders (in the case - perhaps default - of unset, the user would still have the option of setting each folder separately, as now).

I support this strongly, I have asked for this in other forums a number of times.
