I used to organize my downloaded files according to their type. If I download an image, I will put it to picture folder. If I download a document, I will put it in doc folder. I want to automatize this process. For example:
All .jpg, .gif, .png go by default to pictures folder All .doc, .pdf, .txt go by default to document folder. All .mp3, .ogg , .rm go by default to music folder. All .avi, .wmv , .mov go by default to video folder. Here I'm talking about the default destination folder when I choose "save as.." action. This idea is applicable to any web browser and kget. |

KGet does that.
It's under the "Groups" tab in settings.

How I can put filter for .jpg for example there? |

Now that I've tried myself, it seems it's extremely buggy... I got it to work only if I set *.jpg as the "regular expression", and drag images at the drop target. This is obviously suboptimal. It did work really well in KDE 3, so I assumed it would still work properly in KDE 4. This is definitely a bug, so you might want to report it.

I personally don't like downloads going in a x folder by default.

I'm use a "Folder Plasmoid" that shows me all downloaded files and then I use "Magic Folder" to drag&drop files to move them to selected sites using regular expressions.
My system works with any browser, direct download, torrent or ed2k link and with regular expressions you can do amazing things, for example, move avi and zip or rar subtitles to the same folder .

I organize my files my project, each project gets it's own folder and in that folder will be all types of files. When I download a file I want them all to go to the download folder and then I'll move it where it belongs. I don't want to remember where each type of file goes. So this idea will cause me grief. As long as it can be turned off or preferably disabled as default I'm okay with it, but I vote no.

For me having a main download folder is much better, because this way i know what i've downloaded. Sooner or later i organize everything to the right target.
Having a separate download system forces you to keep track or multiple folders, assuming you download many files, of course. -1 here, BUT for some people and in certain situations this may be good, so.. not bad idea if this is just optional |

It will be optional and you can set just one folder for everything if you want. |

I think it's an good idea when it is possible to configure everything

I have seperate folders for web design work, music/sound projects, and school work. Not to mention anything else like extra documents/tarballs. This feature would cause me grief as well. |
