Situation:I absolutely adore the Dolphin view where you have folders and folder contents (files) in one view displayed as one tree.
Problem: This view uses a lot of vertical space in the window. A lot of horizontal space in the window is unused. This is because files as well as the directories are listed only vertical below one another, like in a classical list view. What you get with this basically beautiful view is a lot of directories and files on the left side of the window, a big empty window and some file/directory information (like byte-size, owners, read/write-rights) on the left end of the window. That space should be used more efficiently. However, today we have 16:10 displays that provide 60% more space in the horizontal direction than in the vertical. Proposal: So I think, directories should be placed vertically with the plus-symbols to open them, while the files should be arranged horizontally when a directory is opened. I had a mockup to see what I mean, if I could only load it up Thankx for the hint with the Plasmoid, here is my mockup: http://imagebin.ca/view/wQX9PY2.html

The easiest way to upload a mockup is probably to use the pastebin plasmoid. Just drag the image to the plasmoid, and paste the responding url into your post.
I _think_ I see what you mean but I'd really love to see a mockup of it to be sure.
