Idea as follows:
When right clicking and going to the properties of a file or folder you can see some pretty basic information like privileges and the file size. Since KDE has a mime type system it would be nice if a plugin could be loaded for a mimetype. For instance: - MP3 files can have an ID3 tag editor property page. - Office documents can display info from embedded metadata like author and description and allow the user to edit these fields. - Image files can show compression levels, bit depth, dimensions and embedded camera information(EXIF data?) - Source files for different programming languages can display respective documentation(like java-doc, python doc etc) The design of this functionality should be done in such a way that there is only one extra property page(to keep it consistent). If it's something advanced the property page can have sub tabs. It should also be built in such a way that these pages are easy to develop possibly with scripting languages. |
