I had an idea: adding webcam support destinated to videoconferences and chatting using the new video tag introduced in html5. I don't know if it's possible to use the video tag for streaming video from my webcam or if html5 can't use that feature.

I don't know much about the html5 video tag, however I do think what you're proposing works. But why would you want kopete to add webcam support through qtwebkit? Why not do it using phonon?
