There is one feature I loved a lot in the good old Amiga times and then later in KDE 3.5 a lot! That is the possibility of having the icons of devices on the desktop. The Hard Disks sat there permanently, while removable devices appeared and disappeared as it was needed (at mount/unmount).

I know we already have the possibility to achieve this with plasmoids. The best I have seen so far, adding the "Fixed devices" and "Removable devices" parts of Lancelot to a Lancelot Part plasmoid.

However for example, for Folder view we have both plasmoid and activity, as a way to have icons on the desktop.

My idea would be to do the same with this scenario too. Either make a "Devices Activity" or a "Lancelot Part Activity", so it would be possible to have these icons on the desktop without having their own frame and background, etc.
