One feature that I miss from Pidgin after my recent switch is the unification of messages from one contact with multiple accounts in the chat window. In Kopete, new tabs are opened for each account, even if they are from the same person and at the same time.
In Pidgin, the protocol could change almost invisibly, with no interruption/new tab to the user. The user also didn't have to worry about which account was online and whether or not that one contained the relevant chat history, which they might want to refer to, etc. I believe the history viewer (but not the in-chat-window history plugin) already does things this way. Perhaps the "grouping" drop-down list in the Kopete Settings/Behavior/Chat Window Tab (which is already rather long, could be replaced by a simple checkbox list, like this: [X] Group conversations from the same (account|group|anyone) into one window. [X] Group messages from the same metacontact into one conversation. |
