Hi,
I tried to improve the layout of the new widgets explorer. I've been a bit inspired by Sean's and others' ideas in this thread : http://mail.kde.org/pipermail/plasma-de ... 09639.html. With this new layout, the explorer is a bit higher and wider, but it can display more categories (when you know that there are up to 17 categories , some might argue that we need to reduce them) It can also display more useful special filters : recently installed, recently closed, etc. I find it more structured this way, you don't have a search entry, a way to install new widgets and different kinds of filters on the same line. With the hight slightly increased, i've added a 'picasa like' horizontal scrollbar. I find it more suited than a normal one or just these arrows currenly used. Edit : Air theme : Air theme updated : move 'All Widgets' button to the categories list.

Excellent! Go you!
One thing I'm wondering is why exactly we have a "Categories" button on the left when we already have a list of categories on the top?

You're right ! That's because at first i wanted to hide the list of categories when 'All widget" was selected. So, yes, i think the 'Categories' button is useless here now
Thanks for the comment. |

I think you should try to do away with scrolling left to right (as is done in the new dialogue for kde4.4) altogether. Having to scroll horizontally is just a terrible design
