At present, we do still have that lengthy procedure of having to unlock the widgets before we can add shortcuts to the desktop from places like the K Menu. Then we have to decide where we want the shortcut, and then lock the widgets again.

The main problem I have with this, other than it being a little tiresome to have to do every time I want to add a shortcut (no matter how great they may look once set up! :) ) is that I'd imagine it could be a little confusing for a new or less technical user, don't you think?

I think that somehow this should be streamlined, so that for shortcuts and just for shortcuts they can be added perhaps where free space is available WITHOUT having to unlock the widgets first.

Some way of moving shortcut widgets without unlocking would also be useful I think particularly for newer users, but I am aware this adds another level of complexity.

Thanks for reading, and hope you like it! :)

For a long time I wondered why people have widgets locked down. I don't, and it has never caused me problems. However, I'm told that if you have young children it can save you some worries. All I can say is, if you don't, try leaving them unlocked.

That's what I wanted to write when I read annew comment, locking the widgets is a workaround for an annoying behavior.

I reported several bugs on the issue but never got much response...

Yeah I guess you're right. Erm I dunno, has to be said that little toolbox does look gorgeous. There must be a way to do this that makes widgets more flexible and makes that little toolbox less irritating! lol :)
