kontact has a panel in the right side of its windows to change to kmail, korganizer, addressbook and so an, however this panel takes quiet some space:
now with this incredible new feature (window tabbing) that's introduced in kde 4.4 kontact could be a kind of predefined windowgroup, that groups together kmail, korganizer (and so on) instead of an application itself. this behaviour would save some space and make a real use of window tabbing. |

Except that :
- it won't work with all the decoration themes - it won't work with another window manager (Compiz, Metacity, and of course it won't work on the OSX and Windows platforms) - it would be less clear than the current system (no icon for instance) |

This comes with the same benefits and problems I outlined in my idea. Different idea, but same concept. Mine wasn't too well received though...
D'oh! Fixed link.

Changed the link.
[offtopic] That is the dark side of content loaded from Ajax/JavaScript: There is unfortunately no way to make the URLs working for users without JavaScript, those with JavaScript can not change the displayed path and the servers can not recognize the anchor. That is why the main-content should not be loaded using Ajax. [/offtopic] |

plaristote - Shouldn't it be possible to determine whether kwin is being used and otherwise fall back to multiple windows?
[offtopic] There's a "Disable AJAX" option on the bottom of the page [/offtopic] |

More processes = slower
No kwin = no Kontact Deactivated window-tabbing = no Kontact (however, woul be solvable) @Scnd101 I know, but that does not solve the problem of missing unique URLs. |
