Facebook is slow, but is awfully handy for uploading and sharing pictures. Websites like photobucket are not so bad, because they don't have to load a huge interface and apps and everything else.
So, my solution is to integrate, in this case, the "Pictures" folder with the pictures you upload onto facebook, photobucket, etc. This way, when you want to look at pictures, you just click "Pictures," and there is no opening a browser so that you can type in "facebook.com" so that you can click on "Pictures." It eliminates many steps, as well as eliminating bloated website interfaces.
Theoretically, this should be able to done with all types of media and documents, seamlessly integrating stuff on your computer with stuff on the internet, without the browser that tends to get in the way.
Edit: Made a quick sketch of the idea in local and offline mode. This represents two windows, not a split window to avoid confusion:

I think this is exactly what Aaron (Seigo) ment when he talked about more social desktop in one of his recent blogs... (I'll provide a link if anyone is interested)

Oh? I've seen numerous threads about this, never actually understood what the whole "social desktop" encompassed other than a couple widgets to make social networking possible on the desktop. Although I guess they vaguely suggest integrating it with the rest of the system as well...
