Dear Programmers...
(Maybe this does not only apply to kate, but is an issue deeper down in the kde libs ...) It would be nice, to have a possibility to cancel the search action in order to get back to the cursor position where the search has been initiated. Description: open kate editor, open a text file, large enough, to let the text scroll down as you type during the search.... Lets say I search for "wine" in a big file... ctrl-f "w" - will hit somewhere... "wi" - will hit somewhere else further down "win" - will hit even more further down "wine" - lets assume: no results. well, now my cursor position is far away from the "starting-position". It would be now very nice, to have the possibility, to press a "cancel button" in the search-window and kate automatically jumps back to the stored cursor position, where I typed ctrl-f. Maybe someone can implement this, because working with bookmarks is far from optimal for this issue ? Cheers ! |

That's why I liked old search window better - it stayed in place if nothing was found...
Do not try this at home, part 1. Second most favorite command after KDE upgrade: # chmod -x /usr/bin/kactivitymanagerd
