A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, there was something called gtk-qt-engine. In the days of KDE 3, it worked well, and it made GTK apps use the Qt 3 themes set in KDE.
Then KDE 4 came, and it used Qt 4, which was incompatible with gtk-qt-engine, so for some time there was nothing. Eventually, someone ported gtk-qt-engine to Qt 4, so integrating GTK apps into KDE (at least visually) was once again possible. But it was far from perfect, the ported version of gtk-qt-engine had many bugs and glitches, especially in Firefox, but also in other programs, like Inkscape. However, instead of having these bugs fixed, it was abandoned soon after porting it, and eventually even distributions removed it from their repositories. So, my suggestion is... maybe KDE developers could get the source code of gtk-qt-engine and try to fix these bugs, if it's even possible? One of the strengths of KDE are the beautiful themes available for it, like Oxygen. However, there are some GTK apps that don't really have good Qt replacements yet. It would be awesome if it was possible to make them look like KDE apps. |

With a style like QtCurve that apply to both, KDE and GTK apps there is (almost) no need for anything else.
(almost because of that ugly gtk file-picker...) QtCurve (KDE4, KDE3, & Gtk2 Theme)

Yes, I know about QtCurve. It's cool, but it's quite limited. With gtk-qt-engine, it was possible to use any Qt theme with GTK...

I agree with o__O (how do you pronounce it? .
QtCurve is a nice solution, but...Nitrogen on GTK or Dust on QT are great things to have, personally speaking. I know trolltech had a "gtkstyle" module but I can't never seem to be able to obtain the svn code. As far as qt gtk style, I still use it, but it kind of refuses to obtain Nitrogen's style entirely now. In order to get unified looks, one of the two solutions should be continued. I'd go as far as to make a bounty for it so someone takes it up. |

You can also use a kde4.2-like gtk theme that you can find here :
http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show. ... +(modified)?content=99926 I use it, and it works great. But yeah, if it could be done natively, without having to install a theme, that would be faaar better. |
