Hello,

I have a problem with autohide panels on my netbook. They often pop up when I don't want them to. Wouldn't it be better when they would only pop out if I hit the side with a certain velocity?
This is not my idea, but I think it would be a cool addition to KDE. I hope you will vote for it.

Cheers

or maybe a timeout will also satisfy your/our needs, like the one for the screen edges / corners.

I just tested that and it might work. At least a lot better than the current behavior.

Brilliant idea. What would also be possible is to already show the hidden panel when I start dragging someting in its direction... ???

That might be nice, but I think it might be better to start small.

I consider the current behavior buggy, because the behavior for corners is much better. You have to actually push against the corner for the an action to trigger.

The current implementation creates dead row and columns of pixels that you cannot reach with the mouse without triggering a panel.

This actually-push-against approach makes a lot more sense.
"Mouse velocity" can be useful going even further though.

i read somewhere that gnome3 will have this functionality. a panel that appears before you even reach the bottom of the screen. somehow predicting that you want to go there. the article did not mention how exactly they do it though.
