It would be nice to have a plasmoid that allows me to change user sessions quickly, just like we have in Gnome and OS X. Currently, I have to use kmenu to do this and it costs me about 4 or 5 mouse clicks.

You may use ++ for it.
edit: My angle brackets including alt, ctrl and Fx - tags have been removed. But airdrik described the possible keyboard shortcuts in his post.

If you have multiple X sessions open and want to quickly change between them, you can always use ctrl+alt+F7,F8... Granted, that isn't the most discoverable. However if you are using multiple sessions enough that the extra mouse clicks/movement to access the switch user feature of the menu is getting to be a pain then you might as well take advantage of the keyboard shortcuts that are available.
On the other hand, if someone wants to throw the plasmoid together then by all means.
