There should be provision of recording routine activities and then executing those activities in KDE.

This is equivalent to macros in openoffice.org which allows you to record activities and then when you run that recorded macro, those activities are automatically performed.

Use case -

I want to give presentations to my clients. There I want to refer to some 8-10 documents during the presentation. So I want all the documents open at the same time.

- I start recording my macro.
- I open dolphin.
- I click on my directory locations and open the various documents required
- I click on the presentation and open the presentation
- I stop recording my macro and save the macro.
- I assign one specified key for executing the macro.

When I go to any client, I just click specified key (or run the macro by going to menu) and all these actions are executed and I am ready to give the presentation to the client.

Why don't you use a shell script for that and assign it to a shortcut?

It is very difficult for a non-technical user to use shell script.

And way more advanced.
What if you have changed the name of one of the presentations?
Shell -> edit file
macro -> record again

And what if you need 100 presentations to open? (just an example, looks like a rather bad idea)
Record it again if you do something wrong, I hope not!

Also this introduces a security problem. It becomes very easy to make simple viruses that wipe your hard drive. Because it's just 'click and run' lots of bad things can happen when people start sharing their mini-programs on the Internet (which should be possible to be usable).

oke.. i have 2 windows (kate&firefox) >> edit the CSS file - save it - change to firefox - reload the page << it would be great if i could just push "cmd+s" and it's done..

how can i accomplish that with a shellscript? save in kate and reload page in ff ? i think a makro would be very useful in this case..

but i would be very interested in a solution with a shellscript ... an idea.. anybody?
