Hi All,
I have an idea for a new view for dolphin called "Popularity", where the icons dynamically change size. The more often they are clicked the larger they become (to a maximum size). I guess this could be more easily implemented by having a new column in detail view, but the first idea seems more KDE to me. What are everyone's thoughts? |

Actually Dolphin allows us to considering files. Also, there's no way to sort files by grande.

That would need somekind database about clicks. We do already have a history so it should not be a problem. But having a different size files (directories are special files) what size depends about clicks, it would make it in the end harder to find something else. It has same problems as tag cloud has and why it is getting removed. What could be replacement for this idea is the possibility to set specific icons bigger than others. More like GNOME 2.x has on desktop (drawn by Nautilus). But it would brake the grid/lines etc. And would make pretty fancy looking UI when the ordering type gets changed. I like the idea but results could be very bad. |

Maybe if it simply sorts the files if such a database was possible, instead of messing with the icon sizes. The more popular ones are first in the folder listing, and the lesser ones come after

That could someway already be possible. Just getting the ordering by access time, not by the creation time. But it still would not be by popularity. But most popular gets still top while less used to bottom. |
