Directory Navigator

Sat Mar 13, 2010 5:16 am
I always thought it would be nice to have a full screen directory navigator.

Something that could expand all sub-directories or collapse like kmail does for mail and would allow point-to-point navigation from anywhere to anywhere in the directory tree.I think this would be better than navigating one click at a time through directories.

-Automatically disappearing, minimizing, moving under or switching to another desktop once target directory has been chosen and Instructing file manager to display the chosen directory.

-list more information about Directories and structure all in one view.

-allowing you to scroll or tab through expanded directories (scroll could be switched from parent or sub-directory scroll with right mouse click or some other scheme) would be faster and better for netbooks with small screens and questionable mouse as well as desktops just by using tab button or scroll wheel depending on computer used.

-Different views could be offered like simple targets with line mapping connecting directories for touchscreens allowing grab and move screen positioning along with zoom features or maybe 3D views of directory tree.

-Switchable from root, network or home directories same as it does in file manager.

I'm certain navigation could be improved in many ways once it was in a full screen view.
