And that you should be able to right-click the folders there just as you do in the main part of the Dolphin window? If so, the right-click should probably work in the Places-panel as well. Open root could, in that case, be accomplished by letting the panels be aware of service-menus designed to be used on directories. OpenSUSE 11.4, 64-bit with KDE 4.6.4 Proud to be a member of KDE forums since 2008-Oct.

Choose open in new window or tab, same as in konq. Open a root window here could work the same way for folder tree, or by right clicking an empty part of the main window if your in the right dir.
